Heart in the community
Before and After

Project Overview
Heart in the Community came to me with a clear but simple need: they wanted a place to share information about their charity, highlight the many community services they offer, and give people an easy way to get in touch. Until this point, they’d only been active on Facebook — which meant a lot of people, especially those without social media, couldn’t access their support.
The main aim was to create an informative, accessible website that communicates what they do and who they help. From day one, I wanted to make sure the site reflected their warmth, community spirit, and inclusivity.
Project Development Journey
We initially discussed a multi-page website, but to keep things cost-effective, I recommended a clean, structured one-page layout. This would allow us to include all the necessary content while using anchor links in the navigation to slide users smoothly to each section — making it feel just as seamless as a full site.
We reviewed wireframes quickly and efficiently over a call, allowing for instant feedback and faster alignment on the structure.
Inspired by other community-focused layouts I’d seen on One Page Love, I designed a user-friendly flow and incorporated a set of beautiful illustrations that were available for free to charities — helping keep costs low while adding personality to the site.
Design-wise, the colour palette balances soft tones with punchy moments like the bold red call-to-actions, and I added smooth animations as you scroll to help guide attention and energy. Throughout, I kept usability and accessibility at the forefront, ensuring visitors of all ages could find what they need and feel welcomed.
